Li Auto i8 Officially Launched: The First Pure Electric SUV Priced at 32.18-36.98 Million Yuan}

On July 29 evening, Li Auto officially launched the family-oriented six-seat pure electric SUV — the Li Auto i8. As its first pure electric SUV, the Li Auto i8 is priced between 321,800 and 369,800 yuan, with deliveries starting on August 20. Test drives are now available at retail stores nationwide.

The design concept of the Li Auto i8 is inspired by yachts, featuring the MEGA front grille style and a rear similar to the Li Auto L series SUVs. It offers five exterior colors, three interior options, and 20- or 21-inch wheels.

New 5C Pure Electric Platform for Better Experience

The Li Auto i8, as the company's first pure electric SUV, is equipped with a ternary lithium 5C ultra-fast charging battery, available in 90.1kWh and 97.8kWh versions, with CLTC ranges of 670 km and 720 km respectively. The 5C battery features a powerful cooling system, capable of delivering over 300kW charging power from 0-80%, enabling "500 km range increase in just 10 minutes".

To reduce noise and improve energy efficiency, the i8 uses Li Auto’s self-developed electric drive system, with the core silicon carbide power chips also developed in-house, further optimizing energy consumption to as low as 14.6 kWh per 100 km, increasing range by 30 km, providing a more reliable and efficient electric driving experience.

Li Auto has built the largest, most comprehensive, and user-friendly supercharging network in China, with 3,000 stations and 16,000 supercharging piles, covering key highways with a "nine vertical, nine horizontal" grid, and 256 city supercharging stations forming a "10-minute charging circle" in major urban centers. The network supports smart features like charging reservations, VLA direct-to-station, priority charging power, and seamless payment, enhancing daily charging convenience.

New Styling for Ultimate Space Experience

The Li Auto i8, as the first model in the i series, continues the family’s minimalist design language with yacht-inspired styling, ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.218, and a new three-dimensional star ring lighting system, making it one of the most aerodynamically efficient SUVs globally, with lower wind noise and energy consumption.

To enhance quietness, the i8 features extensive soundproofing, including double-layer acoustic glass on the windshield, side windows, and sunroof, providing an ultra-quiet interior. The first row has four smart silent electric vents, meeting industry-leading noise standards for a peaceful ride.

The vehicle offers MPV-level space and comfort, with wraparound seats, improved backrest and cushion support, and a zero-gravity second-row seat with a large thigh support. The flat electric architecture provides three-row space, with a rear trunk depth of 565mm, capable of fitting two 28-inch suitcases and four backpacks even with six passengers.

New Driving Experience Defines the Next-Gen SUV Standard

The i8 features all-wheel drive with dual motors and double-chamber air suspension. The dual motors deliver up to 400kW power and 660Nm torque, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, with 20% battery remaining still achieving 5 seconds.

The double-chamber air suspension offers four height modes, with the highest clearance reaching 19.6 cm, demonstrating excellent off-road capability. Multiple driving modes, including water fording, are available, surpassing most mainstream pure electric SUVs. The second-row door sill height is reduced to 401mm for easy entry and exit, comparable to sedans.

Comprehensive Safety Design for Family Protection

The i8 adopts a multi-path force transmission design with three vertical paths, 11 energy-absorbing structures, and a reinforced passenger cabin, significantly enhancing crash safety and structural integrity while maintaining its low drag shape.

It is equipped with nine airbags, including the longest side curtain airbags in SUVs, providing full protection. The vehicle meets and exceeds national safety standards, including those from China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) and China Insurance Research Institute, ensuring maximum safety in extreme crash scenarios.

To enhance active safety, the i8 is equipped with LiDAR sensors across the entire lineup, adding advanced features like slow traffic lane change, malicious overtaking, and American-style stop-and-go scenarios, beyond basic AEB and AES systems.

The 5C battery used in the i8 exceeds national safety standards, having passed rigorous tests including water immersion, lightning strikes, gunfire, high temperatures, and freezing conditions, demonstrating excellent safety performance.

First Launch of VLA Driver Large Model for Advanced Assisted Driving

Li Auto is the first to deliver end-to-end advanced driver assistance, now upgraded to the VLA architecture, which includes spatial understanding, reasoning, memory, communication, and behavior capabilities. Unlike imitation learning, VLA evolves through reinforcement learning, continuously improving based on user driving behavior and preferences, becoming a personalized driver.

The VLA large model offers a safer, smoother, and more intelligent driving experience, capable of defensive driving, early collision prevention, and continuous task execution, adapting to user habits for a personalized experience.

It will be delivered with the Li Auto i8, and existing owners of Li Auto's AD Max will receive the upgrade to VLA. The company also plans to upgrade AD Pro with new city-level NOA features based on Horizon Journey 6M chips by year-end, providing enhanced urban assisted driving.

Li Auto's Intelligent Agent Connecting Physical and Digital Worlds

The company's multi-agent technology has evolved from voice assistants to autonomous agents capable of tool use, complex task completion, and memory understanding. Nearly all vehicle functions have been tool-ified, with over 500 tools available for semantic understanding and control, such as adjusting air vents by voice commands like "shoulder cold" or "chest hot".

Li Auto’s intelligent agent connects the physical and digital worlds, enabling tasks like ordering food via Meituan, navigating to pick-up points, and automatically recognizing parking QR codes, license plates, and applying coupons for seamless, smart experiences.

Additionally, the new 'Desktop Master' feature, the first AI code generation tool in the automotive industry, allows the intelligent agent to generate personalized desktop widgets based on user commands, covering news, vehicle control, and mini-games, with ongoing expansion for a richer in-car experience.

Configurations and Pricing

The Li Auto i8 offers three versions: Pro, Max, and Ultra, all equipped with dual-motor intelligent four-wheel drive, double-chamber air suspension, 5C ternary lithium batteries, and ATL all-weather LiDAR.

The Pro version features a 90.1kWh battery with a 670 km range, luxurious suspension, and advanced driver assistance, priced at 321,800 yuan. The Max version has a 97.8kWh battery with 720 km range, a smart refrigerator, and VLA model with lifetime access, priced at 349,800 yuan. The Ultra adds a 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen, premium audio, and a high-definition rearview mirror, priced at 369,800 yuan.

Exterior colors include five options: pearl white, metallic silver, metallic black, and two special edition colors—Elephant Gray and Sky Blue, both priced at 8,000 yuan extra.

Wheels include standard 20-inch low-drag rims and optional 21-inch rims for 10,000 yuan, fitted with Michelin silent tires, allowing users to choose based on preference.

Interior options include three colors: white with white steering wheel and ceiling, gray-brown with brown steering wheel, and orange-yellow with dark gray steering wheel and black ceiling, all customizable for free.

Pre-orders are now open via Li Auto’s official website and app. Customers who confirm their order for the Pro version before September 7, 2025, 24:00, will enjoy over 33,900 yuan in benefits, including free supercharging, home charger or points, lifetime city NOA, and comfort packages. Max and Ultra buyers will receive benefits worth over 51,900 yuan, including free supercharging, VLA model lifetime access, and additional comfort features. Existing Li Auto owners of the previous models are eligible for a 10,000 yuan discount, and the benefits extend to Li Auto ONE owners as well.
