First Travel Industry Super-Intelligent Agent Launches: AI Agent Achieves New Milestone in Vertical Domains}
MaFengWo's new AI travel assistant 'AI Roadbook' offers proactive planning, personalized services, and real-time translation, transforming travel experiences with full-chain intelligent support.

On July 11, MaFengWo officially launched its deeply personalized travel guide product, "AI Roadbook", opening it to all users. Alongside, several practical tools such as "AI Restaurant Booking in Japan", "Menu Translation", and "Multilingual Real-Time Translation" were simultaneously released, directly targeting core pain points of outbound travel and enabling full-chain intelligent services from itinerary planning to destination-specific assistance.
During its beta phase, "AI Roadbook" attracted widespread attention. It breaks the traditional passive response mode of AI, pioneering a full process of "active inquiry - demand calibration - precise generation". After users submit initial needs, AI guides them with multiple-choice questions to clarify key details, such as "Do you want to avoid attractions with many stairs?" or "What is your average budget for dining?". Users can also manually add personalized requirements. Once confirmed, the system generates a comprehensive plan covering itinerary, accommodation, transportation, budget, and practical tips based on MaFengWo’s vast real content data. For more personalized services, users can directly contact local guides via the Roadbook page for one-on-one expert assistance.

The major breakthrough of the fully open "AI Roadbook" lies in its continuous learning ability. The newly added "Travel Personality Diagnosis" feature uses simple, intuitive questions to anchor user preferences, transforming them into personalized tags. With each use, the AI deepens its understanding of the user, integrating this knowledge into subsequent services. For example, if a user mentions "want to walk less" during planning, the AI will automatically avoid attractions with many stairs next time. If the history shows a preference for "local favorite authentic eateries", it will proactively filter out crowded tourist spots. Users’ travel notes, collections, and posts on MaFengWo serve as learning material — for instance, users who favor ancient architecture will see itineraries including local historical sites.
“The more you use it, the better the AI understands your needs, and it can generate highly accurate plans without repeated preferences,” said the head of MaFengWo’s AI product team. “It’s like having a knowledgeable and understanding travel buddy helping you plan.”

In addition to deepening personalized services, MaFengWo’s AI travel assistant "Xiao Ma" has introduced three new practical features focused on travel details. For example, many Japanese restaurants require reservations, but language barriers often cause headaches. With "AI Japanese Restaurant Booking", users only need to screenshot the restaurant interface, and AI will automatically recognize and extract the restaurant name, address, opening hours, and average spending. After selecting the date, number of people, and time slot, AI can directly call the restaurant to complete the reservation, with the confirmation sent to the user’s phone in real-time.

The real-time translation feature abandons cumbersome processes. Users press and hold two microphones in the same interface to speak, and the system automatically detects the language and provides instant translation in seven languages including Chinese, Japanese, and English. It’s ideal for bargaining, asking for directions, and quick conversations. The menu photo translation feature allows users to take pictures of menus, which not only translates dish names but also generates images of the dishes, providing intuitive reference for tourists unfamiliar with foreign cuisine.
“True intelligence isn’t just grand narratives but discovering and solving small but impactful real needs during travel,” said MaFengWo’s AI tech lead. “We want every detail — from booking a favorite restaurant to ordering food or communicating abroad — to reflect the warmth of AI technology.”
